Educational requirements are prescribed by statute as well as rules and regulations of the funeral service licensing board of the state in which a student desires to obtain licensure following graduation from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service. It is essential that an applicant be familiar with these requirements before enrollment. Licensing criteria vary considerably from state to state so it is strongly recommended that the applicant contact the state licensing board or the Admissions Office to insure compliance in advance of graduation; students may also visit the link below, for further information on Licensing. The minimum requirement for admission in all cases is high school graduation or its equivalent.
The application for matriculation should be completed online at the link above. In addition, the following items are required for admission and acceptance to the College:
1. A completed application for the desired program;
2. A $50.00 non-refundable application fee;
3. The applicant must be at least 18 years of age at the time of program start;
4. Completion of all required enrollment documents via DocuSign for the selected program;
5. A high school transcript certifying graduation, or a GED certificate with scores, sent directly to the College from the issuing institution, or an approved equivalent;
6. Official transcripts from all previously attended postsecondary institutions, sent directly to the College from the issuing institutions;
7. A recent photograph for identification purposes only:
a. A driver’s license or state-issued identification card is preferred;
The College reserves the right to refuse admission to any applicant when such action is deemed to be in the best interest of the College, its faculty, staff, students, or the funeral service profession.
Once the application and all required admissions documentation have been submitted to the Admissions Office, the application will be reviewed and an admissions decision will be made. Applicants may be contacted via email if additional documentation is required prior to a final decision.

International admission applicants are held to the same admissions standards and application steps. Upon acceptance into the program, the applicant must complete additional steps in order to obtain the proper immigration documentation.
