Funeral Director or Apprentice

W. L. Case and Company is currently seeking a Funeral Director or Apprentice for a full-time position. We operate four funeral homes throughout the Saginaw County Area and serve the Great Lakes Bay Region. This position will assist families we serve from the first call to disposition and services. Candidates must be able to work independently and in a team environment with reverence to the families we serve. This position also requires the ability to multitask and have professional phone skills.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Transferring of the deceased to the funeral facility and or final disposition
• Meeting with families for at-need service planning
• Lead/assist with visitations and services
• Embalming, dressing, restorative and cosmetic work
• Meeting with families pre-arranging a funeral
• Maintain the funeral home and vehicles
• Printing stationary required for visitations/services
• Designing and creating custom media shows for services
• Filing for burial transit permits, cremation permits, and filing death certificates
• Professional phone skills- being able to handle multiple phone lines

Education and Skill requirements:

• Completion of an accredited mortuary science program
• State of Michigan Mortuary License- or have the requirements needed to obtain a state license after the completion of an apprenticeship.
• Valid Driver’s License
• Ability to use MS Office software and media creation software
• Have basic knowledge of religious and fraternal customs
• Good communication skills
• Detail-oriented
