Student Federal Aid Clarification
Please see the below letter concerning the announcement made earlier today from President Trump's office about the freezing of federal grants and loans. Please note that Federal Student Aid programs under Title IV will NOT be impacted.
-----
Dear Students,
We understand that the Trump administration's decision to freeze federal funding for public loans, grants, and other financial aid has created significant uncertainty and concern for many of you. This action directly impacts students relying on these resources to fund their education, and we are committed to supporting you during this challenging time.
According to a Reuters publication, the Trump order suspending federal grants and loans will cause the money to be “put on hold while the Trump administration reviews grants and loans to ensure they are aligned with the president's priorities.”
Does this mean that student grants and loans under the Title IV programs will not be processed after today?
Karoline Leavitt, White House Press Secretary, has just announced in the ongoing press briefing that Social Security, Medicare, welfare/food stamps or any other federal benefit going to individuals will not be impacted by the recent freeze on federal grant and loan payments. This includes FSA programs under Title IV.
