This position is immediately available. Salary is commensurate with experience and starts at $55,000.00 annually for a fully licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer with annual pay increases and cash bonuses based on profits.
We also offer an immediate sign-on bonus of $2,500.00 for a fully licensed employee.
Position Summary:
The Funeral Director/Embalmer is responsible for meeting with bereaved family members to arrange for the final disposition of the deceased; and arranging services in a professional, caring, and meaningful manner consistent with the wishes of the family, and the standards of Music Funeral Services and related legal requirements in Georgia, He or She should provide sensitive, effective inter-personal communication with family members and friends of the deceased in all situations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Our Funeral Directors handle the initial death call from the facility where the death occurred or a call from the deceased's family and arrange for the removal of the deceased from the place of death to our funeral home or crematory. If embalming is chosen by the family, our directors will perform thorough cosmetic and restorative embalming after receiving permission from the next of kin for such procedures. Our directors extend our continuum of care throughout the services with involved family members and provide emotional support to determine their wishes concerning the care and disposition of the decedent while assisting family members in making funeral arrangements, attending first viewings and funeral services of the deceased, and satisfying preparation for final disposition. He or she schedules the burial or cremation arrangements in a positive and caring manner by meeting face-to-face to gather obituary information, suggest options for services and obtain needed authorizations for the final disposition of the deceased, and secures information for legal documents such as the death certificate, social security and veteran's forms, and other legal documents.
Additionally, the funeral director's duties include establishing the time and place for the visitation, funeral, and burial services with sensitivity to the family's needs and the clergy's availability.
Continuing education enables the director to stay abreast of all state and federal rules and regulations concerning the funeral profession and maintain the highest professional standards within the industry. We plan and pay for continuing education for all our licensees.
Requirements:
• Active and in Good Standing Funeral Director License and Embalmer License with the State of Georgia or have the ability to reciprocate license in a timely manner.
• Strong embalming skills.
• Good understanding of computers and standard software including MS Word, MS Excel.
• Ability to serve and maintain several families in a given period of time.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Detail oriented.
• Ability to work weekends and evenings according to schedule.
• Clean driving record.
• Complete a clean background check.
