Funeral Director and Embalmer

Our funeral homes are located in Calhoun County, Alabama. This area is known for the beautiful mountain views, bike trails, and for being the home of Jacksonville State University. Go Gamecocks! Calhoun County is only an hour from Birmingham and an hour and a half from Atlanta.

K.L. Brown Funeral Homes is a small family-owned business. Currently, we serve about 250 families a year between two locations, Jacksonville and Anniston. We are committed to providing excellent service to our families.

The funeral director’s primary duties include removals, initial contact with families, arrangement conferences and follow-up, directing services, embalming, and final preparation of the deceased for service or cremation.

A qualified candidate:

• Possesses integrity, compassion, and a strong work ethic.
• Is proficient with computers, tablets, and funeral home software.
• Can lift, push or pull objects exceeding 250 pounds, with assistance.
• Is very detailed and highly organized.
• Respects and safely uses facilities, vehicles, and equipment.
• Contributes ideas and talents as a valued member of the team.
• Understands how every interaction with families, their guests, and the greater community is a reflection of our service.
• Is involved in community activities.
• Is an excellent communicator, both verbal and written.
• Can problem-solve and think outside the box to meet our client-families needs.
• Is committed to professional growth.

Has at least two years of exemplary performance as a licensed funeral director and embalmer.  Newly licensed directors/embalmers with excellent references and outstanding completion of their apprenticeship may be considered.
