Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund – Student Aid Update

1. An acknowledgment that the institution signed and returned to the Department the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that the institution has used, or intends to use, no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

a) Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service has signed and returned to the Department the Certification and agreement, and will ensure that no less than 50% of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act will be disbursed as Financial Aid Grants to eligible students.

2. The total amount of funds that the institution will receive or has received from the Department pursuant to the institution’s Certification and Agreement regarding HEERF Emergency Student Grants.

a) Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service has received $220,704.00 under Section 18004(a)(1) and that a minimum of 50% ($110,352.00) will be disbursed as Financial Aid Grants to eligible students.

3. The total amount of Emergency Student Grants distributed to students as of the date of submission (i.e., as of the 30-day Report and every 45 days thereafter).

a) Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service has disbursed $0 of the total allocation as May 13th , 2020.

4. The estimated total number of students at the institution eligible to participate in Title IV programs and thus eligible to receive Emergency Student Grants under the HEERF program.

a) Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service as of May 13th , 2020, has an estimated 191 students that is eligible to receive Emergency Student Grants under the HEERF program.

5. The total number of students who have received an Emergency Student Grant under the HEERF program.

a) There have been no students who have received an Emergency Student Grant as of May 13th , 2020 at Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service.

6. The method(s) used by the institution to determine which students receive Emergency Student Grants and how much they would receive under the HEERF Student Grant allocation.

a) Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service has elected to take all eligible students, based on a student’s eligibility in receiving financial aid, in the Spring 2020 quarter, and divide the allocation accordingly.

7. Any instructions, directions, or guidance provided by the institution to students concerning the Emergency Student Grants.

a) Yes, students will be provided information on the purpose of the CARES Act Emergency Grants.
