Ms. Janet Stephens received her A.A.S. in Funeral Services from John Tyler Community College, a B.A. in Political Science from Mary Baldwin College, an M.A. in History from Virginia State University, and an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership from Regent University.

Janet brings thirty years of experience in the funeral industry and twenty years of experience as an educator. She has worked for various funeral homes including as managing director and embalmer. She holds a post-collegiate license as a History and Government teacher and is also a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner and Certified Crematory Operator.

With extensive experience in curriculum development, including funeral services and history courses for higher education institutions, Janet has specialized in online education. Holding multiple certifications in online teaching and course development, she has used her expertise to provide educational and mortuary consulting services. Her work includes assisting school divisions nationwide in designing history curricula and offering professional development for teachers. Additionally, her services have been utilized by numerous funeral homes for staff training and as a practitioner.

Janet serves in various leadership capacities as a member of the Virginia Morticians Association. She is also a member of the National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association and the National Funeral Directors Association.

Janet has served as a mentor to several students and interns in various states. She can be found always encouraging and motivating future funeral service licensees.
