Career Services

A couple of the most important services that we offer to all students AND graduates are career path advising and job placement assistance for graduates. After all, our main goal is to develop training that will prepare you for a better career. While Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service (GJCFS) does not guarantee job placement, essential career support services and job placement assistance for graduates is always provided. From basic resources like resume writing assistance and discussion of proper interview attire and techniques all the way to individualized coaching, we are available to help you have the knowledge and skills necessary to land a job in funeral service. Career Services emphasizes long-term relationships funeral professionals with regional and national employers and equips you with a flexible toolbox of skills that include:

• Initial assessment of career goals, interests and obstacles.
• Job search assistance and strategies.
• Application, cover letter and resume assistance.
• Practice for interview skills and guidance on attire.

At the Gupton-Jones College campus host on-campus employer visits throughout the year with companies that are interested in hiring our graduates. Even before you graduate, you are encouraged to use these events to make contacts with hiring managers, and to begin honing your interview skills and researching the key attributes hiring managers are searching for in new employees. We offer career placement assistance and personalized career plans for students from day one.

At Gupton-Jones College, we offer workshops on resume writing, networking, interviewing skills, how to use social media, and much more.  At GJCFS, we look at each student as an individual and we help craft career plans according to their needs.  Our main goal is to give every student the tools and skills necessary to get their careers started and assist them throughout that process!
