Mr. Hinz is currently an instructor in Anatomy at Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service. He is a native of Kalamazoo, MI, where he attended Michigan State University, graduating with a B.S. and M.B.A. He is a Vietnam veteran serving in the area of military intelligence. Jim then obtained several years of medical field experience in the 70’s as a medical supply salesman. He chose a career change and enrolled at Gupton-Jones College. He graduated valedictorian of his class and moved back to Kalamazoo, MI, where he became licensed as a funeral director and embalmer. After several cold winters in Michigan, he moved to Clearwater, Florida, continuing to work as a licensed funeral director and embalmer. After a year in Florida, an opportunity arose to teach at Gupton-Jones College where he has been for 30 years. Jim is a member of the Academy of Graduate Embalmers of Georgia, and is the author of the Funeral Service Pathology book published by Professional Training Schools, Inc., 1999, and is a contributing author of Funeral Service Anatomy. He and his wife have two married sons and three grandchildren.
